However, the more I used it, the more I liked it – I just had to do small sections of the mattress at a time. The water in the discard tank was pretty dirty at the end: I went over it once, let it dry under a ceiling fan and then did it again with plain water. The thing that I like the best though is how easy and intuitive the machine is to use and clean – very impressive! The unit also feels substantial although it’s not large or heavy. I initially tested it on a pillow-top dog bed and it worked well with that – we have two large (shedding) dogs and I’m looking forward to using this machine on everything they sleep on!

I was given this portable carpet cleaner to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. And boy does it clean! This little machine has been a lifesaver (house saver) over the past few weeks. This cleaner is lightweight, easy to fill and even easier to empty. The quick startup guide was so helpful, it was simple to figure out which of the three settings to use on what type of stain. This machine was able to remove years old wine stains from our carpet, no problem! I even used it to clean a pet accident on our mattress from our new kitten. I love how quickly I can get the job done with this little machine!

Bought this to clean and sanitize bedding. It does not produce steam! It produces a wet, tepid mist. Even using 140 degree water in the tank, the mist that comes out is sloppy, wet, and lukewarm–not even close to steam. I can put the “steam” directly on my hand; it cools significantly from the tank to the head, barely feeling lukewarm. I guess that’s why you’re supposed to use the Oxy solutions in it. If you use the solutions, then basically you understand this device disperses the solution and then you can scrub it a bit before fully vaccuming it up. So, a solution dispenser with a moderately powered wet vac. That’s not what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to clean with STEAM, not just solution. Super disappointing. Seems like false advertising to even use the word steam.

Just purchased one of these units to clean my rug and sofa. The steam function is very poor – it blasts out a stream of water for several seconds before actually releasing steam; the only way to use it is to have a ‘water bucket’ to spray into before actually touching the rug/upholstery lest you have a soaking wet spot that the suction is not strong enough to pull out. Very disappointed as I thought I was splurging on a high quality unit.

I love my Bisselldiscount vacuum, and was excited to finally have the money to buy this hydrosteam system to help clean up some carpet stains but mostly clean my couch. I don’t have removable couch covers, so a portable cleaner is the only way I can clean my couch without calling in a professional.
What an absolute disappointment. Their book tells you not to use their cleaning solution and to only use steam for upholstery – fine. When I start to use it, the steam barely penetrates the fabric, so it’s not really doing much other than breathing hot air onto dirty fabric. I switch modes to “wash and steam” but all that does it shoot water out with a little steam to make the fabric wet, and leaving it wet. My favorite part of this process is that not only am I missing a cleaning nozzle that was supposed to be in the box, but the cleaning nozzle attachment I am using/did receive keeps coming unclipped from the hose if I try to put pressure on it to attempt to suck up the water that is being sprayed onto the upholstery surface.
Not sure if I just got a faulty product, but for me to clean my couch and ottoman would take at least two hours, plus drying time. I was so excited for this product, especially because Bisselldiscount vacuums have become my favorite offer Dyson with two dogs that shed quite a bit.
I’m more than just disappointed and frustrated with this product – I wish I had never wasted my time or money to purchase and try it.

I have been a Bisselldiscount customer for 20+ years with a background in technology. This is not a well designed product. The Dirty tank is poorly designed and placed and leaks when handled. It does not clean better than the Green Machine despite saying it is 40% better. I really wanted this to be a great machine. I only used it once and will never use it again. So this became an expensive door stop. I read all the instructions and I do think the idea is a great idea but poorly executed. If Dyson ever gets into this market, Bisselldiscount beware, a well engineered product is all it will take to hurt your business. I am so sorry to write this because I do love Bisselldiscount products and how you love saving animals but you guys really have to pay attention to your quality control.

The cleaner itself is good. The steam is a must have in the household. Works really good on carpet in smaller areas, for bigger areas it would be easiest to use a normal stand up carpet cleaner. However the issue I have is the quality of the plastic attachments. The hose and the tools were not made well and they are definitely not strong. I feel like they’re gonna break easily. Right where the hose connects is a very flimsy connection. I feel it should’ve been made with more heavy duty material. Im predicting having to use the warranty because of broken items. Otherwise it would’ve been great.

Don’t waste your money on this “machine”. Steam doesn’t work like advertised. After 3 months of very light use the machine smells of mold and mildew when first turning it on. Always cleaned and dried after each use so I don’t know why it developed a mold problem. I think it’s inside where the steam is “produced”. Will be recycling this product. Also bought the HydroSteam upright carpet cleaner and it also doesn’t work as advertised. Shark has a new line of spot and Carpet Cleaners and I’ve heard very good things about them. Sorry Bisselldiscount you mess up on these machines.

My dog had an accident on the front seat of my car, and the portable nature of the Little Green HydroSteam Pet allowed me to wash it very easily, with no trace of urine visible and no odor left behind. The steam generated by this machine can ans will burn your hand if placed near the discharge port on the handle. Another reviewer mentions a leaky tank when handled? Never had any issue with either tank leaking.
My only complaint with this is the fact that Bisselldiscount doesn’t tell you what the part # is for the self cleaning tool. My unit didn’t come with it. Other than that, its a great machine.

I love this machine, and it’s honestly so fun to use that I feel like a kid with a brand new toy! It’s the perfect little package, but it sure can pack a punch in terms of performance. With a house that’s mostly hardwood we have multiple area rugs that I normally just throw in the washer. I was excited to use the Little Green Hydrosteam Pet as an alternative to my normal method along with the new addition of finally being able to clean the carpet on my basement stairs! They were the first things I cleaned upon my Little Green Hydrosteam Pet’s arrival. After trying it on various surfaces- carpet, area rugs, grout and tile, even pillows, I found it to be a little disappointing. While it took a recent red wine stain right out of my throw pillow and area rug, it did not lift set in dirt as I had hoped. Especially on the carpet of my stairs. I was hoping for more than just a surface level cleaning and one that provided a “like new” appearance.Because of that I will not be implementing this into my cleaning routine as I had hoped but it will be the first thing I reach for when a stain occurs. As a stain remover it’s fantastic but as a cleaner I do not recommend it.

The hot air from the motor blows out the bottom. But the model from Canadian Tire doesn’t have the rolling feet. So essentially the unlit stands in its own bath of high back pressure hot air. I cant believe this came out of Bissel.

We have 4 cats and a baby, a mid pile carpet on the upstairs, and lots of low pile ruggable rugs. I bought this hoping the added steam would really do well with the pet messes (1 cat pees outside of her litter box, 4 cats with hairballs or throw up.) The unit is fairly quiet, the suction is fine, not amazing but not bad, definitely leaves carpet damp compared to the upright that we have (Bisselldiscount green machine), but I spent the extra hoping the steam would also sanitize. Let’s just say I can place my hand within an inch of the steam nozzle and it’s luke warm at best. Yes it sounds and looks like steam, but it’s more a fine mist of Luke warm water. Considering the hydro steam is the top of the line model from Bisselldiscount, it’s a pretty big disappointment. I tried 3 other consumer portable units, non of them lived up to their steam promises so I’m going to say it’s an effective marketing gimmick. Other than that all of the units I tried have similar performance on spot cleaning from normal carpet to the ruggable rugs. So save yourself the money and get any of the others and just preheat the sink before filling the tank. The rest of the unit workers well. I like how easy it is to use and clean. The hose unfortunately will hold residual liquid after cleaning. It folds up nicely and is really compact so I like that. The handle quality is junk, the unit feels well built though. I’ll keep it, I’ll use it, but no, I do not recommend it. It also makes this fairly annoying chirp squeak every 20 seconds of use that started after the second time using it.

It isn’t so much as a stream machine as it is a humidifier. Steam is actually hotter than boiling water, hence the reason it actually chemically separates and goes from a liquid to a gas form. In any case, it’s supposed to be hot.
Whatever this thing is doing the “steam” is cold and whatever cleaning properties bissell markets it having, it cannot possess.
It otherwise functions like their other spot cleaners where you honestly have to massively pretreat old stains and vacuum them several times.
Their steam setting is just a gimmick.

The little green machine has been on my wish list for quite some time. I never thought I’d be so lucky to receive such an amazing product from the Stellar Product Testing Panel to review. At first I was quite intimidated to even open the box and try the machine, I was worried it would be too complicated to figure out or even worse what if I mess something up? Straight out of the box quick set up guide made it easy and was super helpful. With 3 dogs, a messy toddler, and even messier husband, oh and a baby on the way the possibilities are endless with this machine and the messes are plentiful. My favorite feature so far has to be the steam feature, I’m all about working smarter not harder, being able to utilize the steam to first loosen the yucky grime or sticky mess before I have to use harmful chemicals to do the same thing is so helpful and of course not having to sit there and scrub just to loosen the mess. You can easily tote this machine from room to room and love that it truly is an all purpose machine and not just another “carpet cleaner”. Which of course while we all love a good carpet cleaner and this has been no exception it has worked well on new and old stains it’s nice not having to use a full size machine but it would be nice if it had some type of wheels or rolling feature, I have found myself cleaning and set the machine down and get carried away and almost tip it over by stretching to clean. Over all I definitely recommend this product and so excited to have a compact and easy to carry machine to use.

My little green hydrosteam has already paid for itself. I’ve gotten stains out of attached couch cushions and am truly disgusted by the color of the water.
I also was able to save a fairly new area rug that my dog had diarrhea on. After vacuuming in wash mode I truly couldn’t tell where she had pooped!
There’s a few things that would take this from really good to great. The steam could be hotter and have a wider spray area. This is really only good for very small areas/spot cleaning. Even doing something like a whole 5×7 rug would be very tedious (but not impossible).
The attachments are an improvement on the original little green, but still kind of flimsy and feel like they will break within a few more uses. One big improvement they’ve made though is that you can more easily clean the attachments by taking them apart.
Overall I recommend this product and I think they have been listening to customer feedback in product development. It does its job adequately and they are very close to making a 5 star product.
