It’s a good steam mop for the money. I do find the front of the pads unfold off the front of the mop when pushing forward. It works great tho! – We use this, among other things, to clean ancient kitchen linoleum with embossed patterns that collect dirt, and it’s the only thing that really works for that.
-We picked this unit over other, fancier devices because of it’s price and mechanical simplicity.
– Mechanical simplicity means it doesn’t have whirling scrubbers that are noisy, bulky, and more likely to break down and be expensive to repair. It also make the head a lot more compact so it will fit into cabinet toe-spaces.
– A standout feature is that the head is removable, revealing a power-scrub nose with even more intense steam. This is what gets that ancient dirt out of kitchen linoleum.
– You do have to use distilled water for maximum lifespan, but that’s not a big deal. We just stock up on four 1-gal bottles at a time; they are inexpensive and readily available in supermarkets.

And then it suddenly died. It was a quick death, so there was little suffering. I had steam cleaned half the flooring. I had refilled the water tank, and just started on the kitchen when the cleaner stopped. I checked to assure it was still plugged in – it was – and then there was a loud pop followed by a flame shooting out where the power cord enters the machine. No warning. No problems prior to the deadly incident. I’ll buy another, but if the new machine succumbs to a tragic death at 2.5 years, I’ll need to purchase a different model.

If you prefer to remain blissfully unaware of reality, then this unit probably isn’t for you. I have had other floor mop machines, including the Crosswave, and several others. I like to think my family does an ok job of keeping a clean home. Well this steam mop slapped that delusion right out the window. When I say my floors were DISGUSTING, I am not exaggerating. And I had no idea! The filth on the pad after using the thing on a mere 4 sq ft area was unbelievable. I then spent 3 hours deep cleaning all of my hard floors just to be able to regular clean them next time. Instead of the pads, which dirtied in minutes, I used old dish towels. If you’re like me & never had a steam mop before, you may wanna do the same or buy extra pads for the first cleaning.
As far as the product itself, there’s not a lot to it. I can’t really come up with a con. It’s simple to use and pretty lightweight. The scrub brush feature is very useful but my awful floors did it in fairly quickly–floor’s fault, not the machine’s. I have ordered a couple extras. They’re super cheap on this site. Overall very pleased. If a Crosswave-Powerfresh hybrid was invented, I’d be all over it.
