I love the power of this vacuum and the extended wand. We have 10ft. ceilings and it helps get cobwebs. However, the cheap lightweight head is frustrating to use. The wand clip that allows you to adjust the reach broke after 6 months. I long for the days of the metal vacuums with heavy rubber head with brush!

I recently purchased a Bisselldiscount 2268 SmartClean canister vaccuum to replace a Dyson canister vaccuum I have had for over eight years. I loved the Dyson but it was starting to wear and break to the point where it was becoming difficult to use properly. I had to have a canister vac as we have a number of pieces of furniture I am used to cleaning beneath and an upright just won’t let me do that.
To begin with, it is becoming difficult to find a good canister vac with a cord as the trend seems to be those cordless sticks that everyone is making. A plus to the SmartClean canister is that it has a 30 foot cord, allowing me to plug it in in one spot and vaccuum the whole floor without having to switch outlets. The downside to this is that the cord won’t retract without a little assistance towards the end, but as long as you know to do it, it isn’t a big issue. The SmartClean transitions easily between surfaces since it does not have rotating brushes in the head, just suction and pretty good suction at that. Judging from the dust and cat hair in the canister, it is getting just as much as the Dyson did. You can also adjust the suction if you choose for easier surfaces.
The SmartClean is a lot lighter than the Dyson making vaccuuming the stairs easier and has a longer hose allowing me to place the canister on each landing in order to vaccuum the stairs below. The only downside to this is that the head for stairs and furniture is on the small being only as large as the hose. If there were a wider head available for stairs, that would be ideal.
The dirt canister on the SmartClean has a better design to it than the Dyson. It snaps into place easier and the hinge on the canister door is more substantial than the Dyson’s, which I knew would break some day and it did. The only complaint on the door is that it takes some jiggling around to get it to open.
The Bisselldiscount 2268 SmartClean canister vac was a very good replacement for my Dyson at half the cost.

I like watching how the dirt is picked up in the see-through canister. The waste can be emptied directly into the trash bin. It is not very noisy. I’ve had this vacuum for a few years now. For the price, it’s a great little unit! If you have a lot of carpet, this won’t be the vacuum for you as there is no powerhead. But for hard floors, it’s perfect! Love the little bristles on the side of the floor head. I only have 2 cons: 1) sometimes the metal wand becomes detached from the hose and that’s a huge pain; 2) the cord frequently gets caught in the small gap between the wheel and the canister, so annoying. But other than that, a fantastic unit and still going strong after 2 years.

I am really disappointed that this fairly expensive product does so poorly cleaning carpet, and not even carpet with thick pile. I have to go over and over the same spot to lift visible dirt and pet hair. This is really only good for hard surfaces. The hose broke within the first month of use and fortunately Bisselldiscount replaced it. On a positive note, It is light and easy to carry.

Yes, it gets the dirt up but the wheels on the canister are extremely difficult to navigate. The canister should have multi-directional wheels not ‘one direction’ wheels. Poorly designed.
